Automated recommendations help authors target the most appropriate journals.
Parity Computing, Inc., the leader in intelligent automation solutions for the science, technology, and medical (STM) industry, has been chosen by Edanz Group Limited to power the Edanz Journal Selector. The Journal Selector recommends the most suitable peer-reviewed journals for submission of authors’ manuscripts, based on the abstract or a portion of the article. The system has been launched by Edanz as a free, web-accessible service to authors.
At the core of the recommendation system is Parity’s patented Semantic Profiling Engine™, which provides industry-leading accuracy for STM solutions in multiple domains. In the Journal Selector, the Semantic Profiling Engine™ quantitatively characterizes (profiles) both the manuscript and the candidate set of journals. Parity’s proprietary matching algorithms then discover the best target journals for the manuscript. The system is completely automated and generates an immediate response for the user.
“Parity’s system and domain specialist skills made them a great partner in building Journal Selector. Their solution provides highly accurate semantic matching, scalability on large datasets, rapid response time for users, and ease of operation for Edanz,” said Richard Parris, Systems Director of Edanz.
The Journal Selector is the first service to be launched by Edanz as part of its new Journal Advisor platform, a comprehensive suite of applications and services to help authors maximize their publication potential. Parity Computing was selected by Edanz as its technology partner for realizing their vision for the Journal Advisor.
“Accuracy of the recommendations made by our Journal Selector is paramount,” said Benjamin Shaw, Edanz Group’s China and Global Director. “Parity’s semantic technology has enabled us to create a service that will give authors more reliable, readily-available information than they’ve ever had about where to direct their manuscripts.”
“The Edanz team has been working with STM authors for years, and they are incredibly tuned in to the workflows and publication needs of this community,” said Steve Nathan, CEO of Parity Computing. “We’re proud that Edanz has recognized the power Parity’s technology brings to their platform.”
