Parity employs a core team of Computer Science PhDs with extensive experience in unstructured data management, digital libraries, and knowledge discovery systems. This team is supported by Parity’s software development group which designs and builds a suite of software products that are robust, scalable, and easy to deploy using the latest Java technologies. Dr. Ramamohan Paturi, Founder and Chairman. Dr. Paturi is Professor of Computer Science and Engineering at UCSD's Jacobs School of Engineering. His specialties include: algorithms, complexity theory, satisfiability, digital libraries, ontologies, medical data mining, and evidence-based medicine.
Dr. Paturi joined the UCSD faculty in 1986 after a post-doctoral fellowship at Harvard University. He obtained his Ph.D. from Pennsylvania State University in 1985. He is a past recipient of the Jacobs School's Teacher of the Year Award, and he served as the Chair of the Computer Science Department from 2000 to 2004, during which time the Department earned its reputation as a leading institution in the field.
Dr. Paturi founded Parity Computing in 1999 and quickly grew the company to profitability with a global customer base. He has been the driving force behind the company's technology vision and its applications, having spearheaded several innovations in the digitization of scholarly content. He created the first digital archive for the field of information theory and was an early advocate of providing profiles of authors and researchers. He also established Parity's offshore operations in India.
Steve Nathan, CEO and President. Steve joined the company in early 2008, and has led Parity to its current focus on creating an analytics platform for enhancing biomedical research productivity and discovering insights in complex healthcare data.
Steve's experience encompasses more than 25 years in the enterprise software and application development industries. He has held key leadership positions at recognized technology innovators Sun Microsystems and Cray Research, as well as at start-ups Celerity Computing and Alignent Software.
Steve spent twelve years with Sun Microsystems in multiple roles, including: General Manager with P&L responsibility for messaging, portal, and web infrastructure in the iPlanet business unit, where he grew the annual revenue of this product line from $15M to over $100M in three years; Vice President of integrated enterprise middleware and emerging market solutions, where he was responsible for the Java Enterprise System, which formed the core of Sun's enterprise software offering; and Director of developer tools, where he led the team that developed new compiler optimizations for the SPARC II and III microprocessors, resulting in system performance that helped enable the Sun server boom of the mid-late 1990's.
Steve holds B.S. degrees from the University of California at Riverside in Computer Science, Mathematics, and Psychology; and he is a 1999 graduate of the Stanford University Business Executive Program.
Christopher Rosin, Ph.D., Co-Chief Scientist and Co-Founder, earned his Ph.D. in Computer Science at UCSD with a dissertation on new search techniques in artificial intelligence. He has applied his research to drug development at The Scripps Research Institute, and to hybrids of learning and search in Computer Go with a DARPA-funded team. Dr. Rosin has played a leading role in bringing a mix of algorithmic, heuristic, and machine learning techniques to Parity's analytics capabilities.
Mark Land, Ph.D., Co-Chief Scientist and Co-Founder, has nearly two decades of experience in machine learning research. For 10 years he has been developing and applying algorithms to real-world problems of text mining and analytics, focusing on research literature and related data. He recently completed work on Parity next-generation automatic author profiling system, which has attained the highest levels of accuracy and comprehensiveness in the industry.
